Learn About the Rocky Mountain Chapter IEC |
The Rocky Mountain Chapter Independent Electrical Contractors, Inc., a trade association for merit-shop contractors, was
founded in 1981 by eight Denver area electrical contractors. After researching numerous associations, this working group
determined that joining the established
Independent
Electrical Contractors, Inc., whose national office was in Virginia, would be in their best interest. Joining forces
with IEC would give them a national presence, as well as opportunities to learn from other chapters across the country.
As of January 2010, the Rocky Mountain Chapter IEC has grown to nearly 200 members with an estimated 10,000 employees in their
combined companies.
The Rocky Mountain Chapter IEC's apprentice training program is currently delivering training to about 500 students at the Denver
campus, with more than 660 apprentices being trained across the Chapter’s three campuses. Throughout Colorado and Wyoming,
more than 800 students are being trained by IEC chapters.
The Rocky Mountain Chapter IEC's Denver facility has over 20,000 square feet of space and comprises eight classrooms and four labs. The
Chapter also employs 25 instructors to deliver the IEC curriculum. New training facilities are currently being completed at all
three of the Chapter’s training facilities.
As one of IEC’s largest chapters, the Rocky Mountain Chapter IEC has positioned itself as both a leader and a trendsetter within the
association. It is through this ever-renewing commitment to leadership that the Rocky Mountain Chapter IEC plans
to continue serving electrical contractors for many years to come.
