Colorado Electrical PDU & License Renewal Classes (Denver and Loveland, Colorado)

Fulfill your Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico electrician license renewal requirements by taking one of our four electrical PDU classes, which are each 1-day, 8-credit electrical classes. See below for class dates at our Denver Campus and Loveland Campus.

Renewing Your Electrician License in Colorado

To renew your license:

1)    Complete all PDU’s assigned on your previous Continuing Competency Assessment
2)    Log completion of PDU’s in DORA’s Online CC System
3)    Take the CC Assessment based on the 2014 NEC. The 2014 CC Assessment will be available beginning July 1, 2014. Please visit the DORA website for instructions on when and how to sign up for the test.
4)    After following Steps 1-3, you will renew your license online through DORA’s Online Services. Renewal will open mid to late August 2014. You will receive an email or a postcard in the mail, from DORA, notifying you that it is time to renew your license.
5)    The DEADLINE to renew your license, i.e. to complete Steps 1-4, is September 30, 2014.

All IECRM PDU classes:

  • Meet the criteria of the Colorado State Electrical Board Rule 9.7
  • Are approved for Wyoming electrician continuing education
  • Are approved for New Mexico electrician continuing education
  • Cost $143.25
  • Are 8 hours each, and will earn you 8 PDU credits, to fulfill that topic’s requirement for your license renewal
  • Occur on Saturdays from 8am-4:30pm (see below for dates)
  • Are in-person, instructor-led classes that take place at:
    • IECRM Main Campus: 480 East 76th Avenue, Building 5, in Denver, Colorado
      OR
    • IECRM Loveland Campus: 6886 North Franklin Street in Loveland, Colorado
    • The location will be listed on the page!
  • Earn you a certificate of completion after you successfully complete the class
  • Meet the criteria for continuing education re-certification requirements of NABCEP Solar PV Certified Installers


PDU: Grounding and Bonding

This class provides an overview of Article 250 from the NEC, covering line and load side, grounding and bonding. Taught by Chris Shipp, Cal Blair, and George Stolz.

PDU: Wiring Methods

This class provides an overview of Article 300 including different types of installations, raceways and the new requirements for conductors. Taught by Todd McGee and Jim Johnson.

PDU: 2011 NEC Changes

This class provides an overview of the 2011 National Electric Code (NEC) changes. Taught by Rich Castellano.

  • This class is now replaced by PDU: 2014 NEC Changes, which now fulfills 8 PDU credits toward the 2011 NEC Changes requirement. See below for dates and a link to the registration page.

 

PDU: 2014 NEC Changes Class

This class now fulfills 8 PDU credits applicable toward your 2011 NEC Changes PDU requirement!

This class will help you understand the newest changes to the 2014 NEC, and will provide a refresher on 2011 NEC changes. Taught by Rich Castellano and George Stolz.

PDU: Theory and Calculations

This class provides an overview of Code Calculations and Ohm’s Law based on the NEC. Taught by Steve Cauley and Jim Johnson.

6-Week License Exam Prep Class for 2014 Colorado RW, JW, & Master Electrician Exam (Wyoming Approved)

IECRM offers a six-week course, Wednesday night class  for apprentice electricians preparing to take the 2014 Colorado RW (Residential Wireman) or JW (Journeyman Electrician) licensing exam, or for Journeymen preparing to take their Master Electrician licensing exam. This course is Wyoming Approved.

This class is taught by Rich Castellano.
