Denver’s First Energy Industry Job Fair Sees Large Turnout
DENVER, Colorado — July 2, 2013 — On Tuesday, June 25th, job seekers, career changers, and veterans went out on a limb by attending the first-ever Energy Industry Job Fair in Denver, Colorado, and many of them left with interview and job prospects. IECRM, an electrical school and trade association, coordinated the Energy Industry Job Fair and Open House in an effort to attract new talent to the trade professions, and to fill a growing number of job openings in the field.
Encore Electric, Inc. (Englewood, CO), Kenny Electric Services (Denver, CO), and Weifield Group Contracting (Denver, CO), were just a few contractors that recruited for well over 200 job opportunities at the event. Veterans Green Jobs and RTD’s Workforce Initiative Now also recruited at the event.
“This Open House and Job Fair came at a perfect time for Colorado,” said Kristin Kim Haynes, Director of Operations for IECRM. “It’s been a long time since the energy industry’s needed a job fair, and now the opportunities are plentiful, so hosting this event was especially exciting and fruitful!”
In between talking to recruiters, candidates filled out applications at an ‘Application Station,’ and some participated in on-the-spot interviews that were conducted in private rooms. Visitors also learned about IECRM and its Four-Year Electrical Apprentice Training Program, which is currently registering new students, and will begin in mid-August 2013.
IECRM promoted the event with assistance from the Denver Office of Economic Development, Denver’s workforce centers, Community College of Denver, Emily Griffith Technical College, and a number of the companies that make up the IECRM trade association.
Registration is now open for the IECRM Four-Year Apprentice Program, and will close on July 26, 2013. To learn more about the program, continuing education, or about becoming a member or partner company of the trade association, please visit www.IECRM.org or call (303) 853-4886.
