IECRM’s CEO Brings Initiative, Implementation and Impact to the Electrical Industry
Marilyn Akers Stansbury was named CEO of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Independent Electrical Contractors (IECRM) in 2015. IECRM is Colorado’s top electrical and renewable energy trade association and the largest IEC electrical apprenticeship training program in the country. Marilyn is a long-time executive leader and change advocate, she has moved complex initiatives from vision to sustainability by reflecting the basic importance of people as the secret sauce in making change stick. For the past 30 years, she’s brought her special brand of leadership to bear on creating teams of equals that work as one powerful force to unlock an organization and sustain its potential. She is successfully appealing to her team’s action-based core, combined with powerful rationale, to steer IECRM through a phased makeover that will continue to meet the demands of an industry that is rapidly changing and critically in need of skilled workers.
At the helm of IECRM, Stansbury has built an aligned and committed leadership team that works each and every day to represent over 200 member companies and educate more than 1500 electrical apprentices and licensed electricians annually. With fewer people entering the trade professions and a building boom in the Denver area, there is a shortage of skilled trade workers, including electricians. Stansbury led the organization through the successful endeavor of moving the apprenticeship school’s two former locations to newly remodeled campuses to accommodate the growing demand on the school. Her goal is to bring much-needed new talent to the industry and enhance her member companies’ workforce development and economic success.
